About Unit

Khartia Brigade is a unit of the Ukrainian National Guard.

It was originally formed on March 19, 2022, as the Khartia Volunteer Unit under the 127th Territorial Defense Brigade. The unit’s core came from volunteers in the Kharkiv region, among the first to respond when Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022.

On March 20, 2023, the volunteer unit was expanded into a full brigade under the Ministry of Internal Affairs Offensive Guard program and formally became the 13th Brigade of Operational Appointment Khartia in the National Guard.

Since its formation, the brigade has fought in numerous major battles and sectors. It took part in the liberation of Rus’ka Lozova and operations across the Kharkiv region during the Kharkiv counteroffensive in 2022. It also saw combat in the defense of Bakhmut. In 2024, Khartia operated in areas such as Ocheretyne and the Serebryansky forest, and played a role in stopping renewed Russian advances toward Kharkiv, specifically around Lyptsi.

In March 2025, it was confirmed that the brigade would serve as the basis for a new army corps and was officially revealed as the 2nd Khartia Corps of the Ukrainian National Guard.

Insignia

The insignia is a pointed chevron in muted grey and olive colors, featuring a central angular shape that rises in a trident-like symbol with an arrow at the top. Above it, the name of the brigade Khartia appears in bold, grey lettering.
