127th Heavy Mechanized Brigade

127th Heavy Mechanized Brigade is a unit of the Ground Forces. The unit was formed in Kharkiv shortly at the start of 2022 just before the russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as the 127th Territorial Defense Brigade part of Territorial Defense Forces.

In July 2023, the 225th Territorial Defense Battalion was reformed as an assault battalion and assigned directly under the command of the Ground Forces, later growning up to the regimental size.

In July 2024, the brigade was transferred to the Ground Forces, and by August 2025 was assigned to 11th Army Corps.

In July 2025, the brigade became the second territorial defense brigade to be converted into a heavy mechanized brigade.
Under standard organizational structures, a heavy mechanized brigade typically consists of two tank battalions, two mechanized battalions, and two rifle battalions.
During the reorganization of the brigade, 229th Territorial Defense Battalion and 249th Territorial Defense Battalion were disbanded and the soldiers were relocated in other units. 226th Territorial Defense Battalion, traditionally a light infantry unit, was unexpectedly converted into the 1st Tank Battalion of the brigade, receiving an unspecified number of T-72B3 tanks, captured earlier from russian forces.

In December 2025 the brigade received the honorary title “Kharkivska“.
