About Unit

8th Mountain Assault Battalion is a mountain infantry unit of the Ground Forces of Ukraine, and under the command of 10th Mountain Assault Brigade. The unit was initially established in May 2014 as the 8th Territorial Defense Battalion Podillia. In November 2014, it was restructured into the 8th Motorized Battalion and placed under the command of the 24th Mechanized Brigade. In February 2016, 8th Mountain Assault Battalion was formed on its basis.
