National Guard celebrates 11th anniversary

Today, the National Guard of Ukraine celebrates its day. As is tradition, President Zelenskyy met with National Guard servicemen, honoring them with state awards and presenting battle flags to their units.

- 24th Regiment received honorary title “named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny”
- 1st Regiment received honorary title “Kodatskyi”
For Courage and Bravery award
The following units received honorary distinction “For Courage and Bravery.”
- Center for Special Operations of the National Guard
- 5th Slobozhanska Brigade
- 13th Brigade of Operational Assignment Khartia
- 15th Battalion
- 17th Poltavska Brigade
- 34th Khersonskyi Regiment
- 36th Regiment
- 50th Regiment named after Col. Semen Vysochan
Thanks to the awards, we learned that the 16th Battalion of the National Guard (Military Unit 3053) has been reorganized into the 36th Regiment.
The Ukrainian National Guard was originally established in 1991 but was later disbanded, only to be reformed in 2014 amid the Russian invasion of Donbas. Since then, its units have carried out missions alongside the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Today marks its 11th anniversary.
