About Unit

3rd Army Corps is a combined arms unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.

It was established on March 14, 2025, being one of the first formations to be stood up amidst the long-awaited Corps-Brigade structure in the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The Corps was formed on the basis of the management of the legendary 3rd Assault Brigade, led by Brigadier General Andriy Biletskyi.

In July 2025, it was confirmed by a recruiter affiliated with the 3rd Assault Brigade that the 60th Mechanized Brigade had been structurally assigned to the command of the corps. In August 2025, the last of the corps structure was confirmed, with the 53rd Mechanized, 63rd Mechanized, and 125th Heavy Mechanized Brigades joining the corps.

The 3rd Assault Brigade helped to stand up several support and corps-level formations within the structure, including the transfer of the brigade’s Reconnaissance Battalion, becoming the 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion. In September 2025, it was confirmed that a new artillery brigade would be stood up for the 3rd Army Corps, being the 52nd Artillery Brigade.

In order to bring the other brigades up to the standards and expectations of the 3rd Assault Brigade, new commanders were assigned to the 60th Mechanized and 125th Heavy Mechanized Brigades.

Insignia

The insignia of the corps has not yet been unveiled, with the insignia having already been concepted by Brigadier General Andriy Biletskyi; however, the insignia is currently under dispute with the heraldry department. The temporary insignia consists of the stylized “Idea of the Nation” symbol, representing the number three in Roman numerals at a slanted angle in a deep orange color.
