About Unit

52nd Artillery Brigade is a unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.

The brigade was established in August 2025 and revealed to be forming as part of the 3rd Army Corps, pooling together existing and new assets, as well as personnel from maneuver units subordinated to the corps.

It was revealed that the commander of the brigade was Oleksandr Tshyankok. Despite being part of the corps, the unit received a chevron in theme with the rest of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, as opposed to adopting the pointed chevron style used by the 3rd Assault Brigade and the wider Azov Movement.

In May 2026, the brigade began to undergo reformation, and it was revealed that elements of the Artillery Group of the Kraken Active Operations Unit had been transferred to help form the basis and bolster the brigade’s combat core. In late May 2026, a new insignia was discovered, adopting the pointed chevron; however, it lacked any detail – likely being a placeholder.

Insignia

The insignia depicts a pointed chevron in tree poppy yellow and midnight blue colors, with the core elements being an abbreviation of the brigade’s full designation, alongside the stylized Idea of the Nation symbol characterized by three lines at the bottom of the chevron.
