The unit was formed on March 8, 2022, as part of the 127th Territorial Defense Brigade, to defend city of Kharkiv and Ukraine from the Russian invasion. Its soldiers are battle-hardened from the very first days of the full-scale war — heroes of the counteroffensive and the “Fortress Bakhmut”.
In 2025 with the 127th Territorial Defense Brigade being reorganized into a Heavy Mechanized Brigade the battalion was reorganized into a linear tank battalion of the brigade and ceased to exist as a separate unit.
