5th Assault Brigade

Formed by Pavlo Palisa, who studied at the Command and Staff College of the US Army and returned to Ukraine to fight against the enemy. The 5th Assault Regiment was the first of its kind in the structure of Ukrainian Army and focused solely on assaulting, as the name suggested. The regiment had close ties to 58th Motorized Brigade since the commander previously served in the brigade and was originally supposed to become a deputy commander there. On February 24, 2023, the regiment was reformed into a brigade, becoming the 5th Assault Brigade, and the famous 24th Assault Battlion Aidar was assigned under its command.
