The Army Celebrated the Infantry Day

On May 6, 2025, Ukrainian Armed Forces celebrated the Day of Infantry. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with servicemen and the families of fallen heroes. During the ceremony, he presented the nation’s highest state awards, combat flags, and ribbons for the honorary distinction “For Courage and Bravery” to unit commanders. He also handed ribbons bearing honorary brigade names and conferred higher officer ranks in recognition of exemplary service.
Battle flags
The following units received their battle flags.
For Courage and Bravery Award
Two units of the Ground Forces received a green ribbon For Courage and Bravery.
Honorary titles
Three units of the Ground Forces, and one of the Territorial Defense Forces, received honorary titles.
- 22nd Mechanized Brigade received honorary title “Mykolaivska”
- 32nd Mechanized Brigade received honorary title “Staleva”
- 65th Mechanized Brigade received honorary title “Veliky luh”
- 128th Territorial Defense Brigade received honorary title “Dyka pole”
Commanders
- Colonel Oleksandr Bakulin (commander of 19th Army Corps) has been promoted to Brigadier General.
- Colonel Oleksiy Maistrenko (commander of 169th Training Center) received rank Brigadier General.
- Colonel Viktor Solimchuk (deputy commander of United Forces) received rank Brigadier General.
