The 18th Army Corps of the Ukrainian Ground Forces and its composition have been confirmed, as per the official Facebook page of the unit. First reported by MilitaryLand in March 2025, the corps was officially confirmed to be forming in Cherkasy Oblast in central Ukraine, with its insignia unveiled in May 2025.

The commander of the corps is Col. Roman Darmohray, beginning his service with the 72nd Mechanized Brigade, rising from a platoon commander to the deputy brigade commander. In February 2022, he planned and organized the defense of several agglomerations in Kyiv Oblast. In July 2023, he was appointed as the commander of the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade, and since April 2025, he has been commanding the 18th Army Corps.

On August 12, 2025, a ceremony congratulating the fighters of the 156th Mechanized Brigade highlighted that the unit fell under the command of the 18th Army Corps, with Brigadier General Vladimir Shvedyuk, as part of the Operational Command Westawarding soldiers of the brigade on the anniversary of its creation. The ceremony featured an award and a banner displaying both the brigade and corps insignia, confirming that this newly formed mechanized brigade falls under the command of this formation.

Several other brigades have also been confirmed as part of the corps. Among them is the 1st Heavy Mechanized Brigade—formerly the 1st Tank Brigade before its reformation, as previously reported by MilitaryLand—which is currently operating alongside the 156th Mechanized Brigade in the Yunakivka direction of Sumy Oblast.

Another brigade that is part of the 18th Army Corps is 21st Mechanized Brigade, which is currently deployed near the Ukrainian-Russian border in Myropillya in Sumy Oblast. The 47th Mechanized Brigade and the 47th Artillery Brigade have been reassigned from the 9th Army Corps.

The 47th Mechanized Brigade is currently stationed along the border in Sumy Oblast. Most of the 47th Artillery Brigade is also deployed in Sumy, while its 4th Battalion remains positioned in the Pokrovsk direction. In addition, the 66th Mechanized Brigade has been confirmed, via the official Facebook page of the 18th Army Corps, as part of its structure. However, due to its current area of operations in Zelene Dolyna, Ridkodub, and Nove, the brigade is temporarily attached to the 3rd Army Corps.

The battle flags of several units, including those of the 47th and 66th brigades, appeared on the eve of Ukraine’s Independence Day, with the commander of the Operational Command West, Shvedyuk, presenting state awards to officers of the corps, further entrenching these units within the corps structure.

While the core combat units of the corps have now been identified, the dedicated support elements, including a drone regiment and other support units, remain to be confirmed.
