Promotions and honorary titles assigned on the Day of Armed Forces

As the Ukrainian nation celebrates the Day of the Armed Forces today, it presents a great opportunity to honor military units, commanders, and distribute state awards and honorary titles. We’ve compiled a summary of all units that have received battle flags, honorary names, or awards, as well as the commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who have been promoted to higher ranks based on the Presidential’s decrees released on president.gov.ua.

Combat Units

• 21st Mechanized Brigade received its battle flag.
• 37th Aviation Squadron received its battle flag.
• 78th Air Assault Regiment received its battle flag.
• 118th Territorial Defense Brigade received the honorary title Ataman Lyuty-Lyutenko (named after)
• 128th Territorial Defense Brigade received the honorary title Dyka Pole
• 203rd Training Aviation Brigade received the honorary title Vladislav Rykov (named after)
• 211th Pontoon Bridge Brigade of the Support Forces received its battle flag.

The following units received For Courage and Bravery honorary award for courage and heroism shown during the defense of Ukraine.

• 15th Artillery Reconaissance Brigade, 38th Marine Brigade, 47th Engineering Brigade, 107th Rocket Artillery Brigade, 241st Territorial Defense Brigade

Commanders

• Brig. Gen. Oleksandr Trepak, the commander of the Special Operations Forces, was promoted to Major General rank.
• Brig. Gen. Ihor Skybyuk, the commander of Air Assault Forces, received Major General rank.
• Col. Mykola Palas, the deputy commander of United Forces, was promoted to Brigadier General rank.
• Col. Dmytro Bratishko, the commander of Operational Command East, was promoted to Brigadier General.
