All Heavy Mechanized Units Assigned to Army Corps

All the remaining heavy mechanized brigades, recently formed on the basis of territorial defense brigades and tank brigades, have been assigned to various army corps formations.

According to several volunteers closely affiliated with the 125th Heavy Mechanized Brigade, the unit has been integrated into the 3rd Army Corps. As MilitaryLand reported on July 25, 2025, the brigade was restructured from the 125th Territorial Defense Brigade into a heavy mechanized formation.

A post revealing that 125th Brigade is part of 3rd Army Corps

The 129th Heavy Mechanized Brigade has joined the 15th Army Corps, according to the corps’ official social media. As we reported on July 27, 2025, the brigade was formed from the 129th Territorial Defense Brigade.

The 127th Heavy Mechanized Brigade is now part of the 11th Army Corps, as revealed today by Defense Minister Denis Shmyhal during a visit to frontline units. The brigade was formed on the basis of the 127th Territorial Defense Brigade, as previously reported on July 25, 2025.

According to our sources, the 1st Heavy Mechanized Brigade, a legendary unit, has been assigned to the 18th Army Corps. The brigade was reformed from a tank formation on July 8, 2025.

Finally, the 4th Heavy Mechanized Brigade has been transferred from the 9th Army Corps to the 21st Army Corps. Originally established as a tank brigade, it was later restructured into a heavy mechanized unit, as reported by MilitaryLand on August 1, 2025.

Heavy Mechanized Brigades in Army Corps

It is known that each corps formation within the structure of the Ground Forces will include a dedicated heavy mechanized brigade. Below is the updated overview of army corps with and without an assigned heavy mechanized formation:

  • 3rd Army Corps – 125th Heavy Mechanized Brigade
  • 9th Army Corps – 5th Heavy Mechanized Brigade
  • 10th Army Corps – 117th Heavy Mechanized Brigade
  • 11th Army Corps – 127th Heavy Mechanized Brigade
  • 12th Army Corps – unknown
  • 14th Army Corps – unknown
  • 15th Army Corps – 129th Heavy Mechanized Brigade
  • 16th Army Corps – 3rd Heavy Mechanized Brigade
  • 17th Army Corps – 128th Heavy Mechanized Brigade
  • 18th Army Corps – 1st Heavy Mechanized Brigade
  • 19th Army Corps – unknown
  • 20th Army Corps – 17th Heavy Mechanized Brigade
  • 21st Army Corps – 4th Heavy Mechanized Brigade

This leaves three army corps currently without a dedicated heavy mechanized brigade. However, as there are no unassigned heavy mechanized units left, the Defense Forces will need to establish three additional brigades to fill these gaps.
