20th Army Corps: Everything You Should Know

New details have emerged about the newly formed 20th Army Corps. MilitaryLand first reported on the creation of the 20th Army Corps back in March 2025. Recent open-source information confirms that the corps is based in Kryvyi Rih, in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, and will primarily be responsible for operations in the southern and eastern theaters. The formation falls under the command of Operational Command East. Additionally, the corps’ official social media channels have revealed its structure and the brigades that are subordinated to it.

The structure

The 20th Army Corps includes the veteran 17th Heavy Mechanized Brigade (formerly the 17th Tank Brigade), along with the battle-hardened 23rd and 33rd Mechanized Brigades, as well as the 31st and 141st Mechanized Brigades. Similar to the previously disclosed 1st and 2nd Corps of the National Guard and the 12th Army Corps, this formation currently does not have dedicated, separate artillery or tank brigades. These assets have not yet been officially disclosed and are expected to be organized as battalion- or regiment-sized units rather than full brigades.

Thus, the 33rd Mechanized Brigade has been reassigned from the 10th Army Corps, where it was previously stationed. It remains to be seen whether the 31st and 141st Mechanized Brigades will also be redeployed to the eastern front. At present, the 31st Mechanized Brigade is based in Zvyahel, Zhytomyr Oblast, while the 141st’s garrison is located even farther west, in Rivne.

The commander

The commander of the 20th Army Corps has not yet been officially announced. However, based on the corps’ composition and earlier reports, it is likely that Colonel Maksym Kituhin, currently the commander of the 17th Heavy Mechanized Brigade, will be appointed to this position.
