About Unit

39th Marine Brigade is a unit of the Ukrainian Naval Forces.

The brigade was officially formed in March 2022, following the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, as the 126th Territorial Defense Brigade in Odesa, Odesa Oblast.

They defended the local areas against Russian air attacks and were deployed to hold positions near the border of Mykolaiv and Kherson Oblasts in July 2022.

In April 2024, the brigade was transferred to the Ukrainian Naval Forces under the command of the 30th Marine Corps. It would later be officially reformed in March 2025 into the Marine Corps as a coastal defense unit, becoming the 39th Coastal Defense Brigade.

In late October 2025, the Vedmedi Group, which had been temporarily assigned to the command of the brigade since March 2025, was expanded into a linear Unmanned Systems Battalion of the brigade.

On March 1, 2026, the brigade was reformed as a Marine Brigade.
