About Unit

Operation Task Force East is a temporary administrative command body of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.

It was established in 2025 in order to undertake the frontline responsibilities of Operational Command East, grouping together several Army Corps under its command. It is tasked with defending the south-eastern regions of Ukraine, predominantly in Donetsk Oblast.

As part of its structure, it initally commanded the 9th, 11th, and 20th Army Corps of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.

It also became known that Brigadier General Dmytro Bratishko, former commander of Tactical Group Zaporizhzhia, became the commander of the Task Force following the disbandment of his former unit in 2025. The Task Force left the control of 20th Army Corps, but gained command also of 19th Army Corps, 7th Rapid Response Corps and the 1st Azov Corps.

On April 2026, Bratishko was removed from the command of OC East and Operation Task Force East, being replaced by the commander of 20th Army Corps, Maj. Gen. Viktor Nikolyuk
