Ukrainian Motorized Brigade was formed in 2015 as the reaction on the annexation of Crimea and the War in Donbas. Three Territorial Defense Battalions were assigned under its command. The unit actively participated in the War in Donbas. In 2019, Ukrainian command decided to transfer the brigade under the Marines to form a third Marine Brigade. The move has never been completed, and the brigade remained under the command of Ukrainian Armed Forces.
