About Unit

The 1st Motorized Battalion was a unit of the Ukranian Ground Forces, was formed in June 2014 as the 1st Battalion of Territorial Defense with residents from Volyn Oblast. It was one of very few battalions of the Territorial Defense which received enough time for its training, because the battalion commander refused to sign the act of readiness.

In October 2014, it was proposed to create the 99th Motorized Battalion on its basis, but the plan was never completed.
The unit was eventually reformed into the motorized battalion of the 14th Mechanized Brigade.
The battalion was subsequently demobilized and existed only as a quadre unit up to 2020, being officially disbanded.
