Despite the ongoing war, personal issues continue to persist in some volunteer units.

An unexpected and unnecessary situation has arisen in 67th Mechanized Brigade. Part of 1st Assault Battalion Da Vinci Wolves left the structure of the brigade, likely due to personal issues with the command of 67th Mechanized Brigade. The breakaway personnel continues to use the name Da Vinci Wolves Battalion (without the 1st Assault), the original insignia and social media accounts.

The first breakaway group is Ulf Medical Unit, headed by Alina Mykhailova. She’s the girlfriend of Dmytro Kotsiubailo, who commanded 1st Assault Battalion Da Vinci Wolves until his death in March 2023. All personnel of the medical unit left the battalion with her. The second group is Honor Company, a breakaway unit from Azov movement, led by Serhii Filimonov. All personnel of the company left the structure of the battalion as well.

The rest of 1st Assault Battalion Da Vinci remains in the structure of 67th Mechanized Brigade and continues to perform combat duties under the name 1st Assault Battalion. They currently do not have access to neither social media account and warned that all future posts do not represent the position of the battalion.

Official statement by the leadership of 67th Mechanized Brigade and Ukrainian Volunteer Corps of Right Sector:

The command informs that Alina Mykhailova, Serhii Filimonov and separate groups of fighters left the structure of 67th Mechanized Brigade and joined another brigade. These persons are no longer part of our brigade, nor part of Ukrainian Volunteer Corps of Right Sector. Soldiers of 1st Assault Battalion continue to protect Ukraine under the command of Maj. Yuri Kapustyak, the deputy commander and personal friend of Dmytro Kutsiubailo since the ATO times.

The breakaway group hasn’t yet provided a comment on the situation. According to available information, the breakaway group joined 59th Motorized Brigade. They recently opened a new recruitment center in Lviv.
