New Artillery Brigade Boosts 8th Air Assault Corps

The Air Assault Troops, the elite force within the Ukrainian Defense Forces, have formed a new artillery brigade. This was revealed during a recent equipment handover by former President Petro Poroshenko and first noticed by MilitaryLand.
The newly formed unit has been designated as the 147th Artillery Brigade and assigned to the newly created 8th Air Assault Corps. The 148th Artillery Brigade, which was previously part of this corps, has been reassigned to the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps. With this reorganization, both Air Assault corps formations now have a dedicated artillery brigade.
8th Air Assault Corps is the second army corps formation within the Air Assault Forces. Established in early 2025, it was formed around the 82nd Air Assault Brigade. The corps is commanded by Colonel Dmytro Voloshyn, who previously led the 82nd Brigade. It currently comprises five combat brigades, one artillery brigade, and a management battalion.
It is also highly likely that the corps will form a new reconnaissance battalion and an unmanned systems battalion in the near future. The existence of the 8th Air Assault Corps was first revealed by MilitaryLand on April 22, 2025, along with its insignia.
