Kituhin Named Commander of 20th Army Corps

The 20th Army Corps of the Ground Forces, which recently assumed responsibility for the frontline south of Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast, now has a confirmed commander. Colonel Maksym Kituhin, a tanker and former commander of the 17th Heavy Mechanized Brigade (formerly the 17th Tank Brigade), has been appointed to lead the corps. Since the brigade is part of the corps, his promotion is a logical move, placing him in command of former comrades-in-arms. The news of his appointment was reported by Ukrainska Pravda.
His appointment leaves only two army corps formations without publicly confirmed commanders—the 14th Army Corps and 15th Army Corps. According to earlier reports, Ruslan Shevchuk (58th Motorized Brigade) and Vasyl Matiyev (5th Assault Brigade) are expected to lead these corps, though it remains unclear who will command which one.
About Kituhin
Maksym Kituhin graduated from the National Academy of the Ground Forces in 2009 with a degree qualifying him as a tank platoon commander. He began fighting in the Donbas in 2014 as a tank company commander in the 17th Tank Brigade. In August 2018, he was promoted to command a tank battalion within the same unit. By 2023, he had risen to the position of deputy commander of the brigade and became its commander in 2024.
