Kharkiv Army Corps Expands with New Units

On June 4, 2025, MilitaryLand reported on the 41st Mechanized Brigade joining the 12th Army Corps, becoming the first fully established mechanized formation within the corps. This was reported by the corps and the brigade alike on their respective official media channels. Since then, there have been indications that the 41st Mechanized Brigade might join the 16th Army Corps, but these remained unconfirmed until recently.

As Ukraine’s shift to a corps-brigade structure takes shape, many units have seen their assignments reconsidered. MilitaryLand previously noted that the 22nd Mechanized Brigade and the 154th Mechanized Brigade were initially expected to join the 16th Army Corps, but, for reasons that were unclear at the time, this did not happen. Things have changed.

It is now known that the 41st Mechanized Brigade and the 154th Mechanized Brigade have been assigned to the 16th Army Corps. This was confirmed with the corps publishing training footage from the 41st Brigade and footage inside a drone workshop from the 154th Brigade on the corps’ official Facebook page. This now makes the formation to have a single heavy mechanized, artillery, three mechanized, two motorized, one assault, and a territorial defense brigade, bringing the total to nine fully fledged brigades inside the corps.

The last known unit that has joined the 16th Army Corps is 48th Reconnaissance Strike Battalion, which was recently formed on the basis of 48th Rifle Battalion.
