About Unit

48th Reconnaissance Battalion is a unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.

It was formed in April 2022 as the 48th Rifle Battalion in response to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and it was later assigned to support the 72nd Mechanized Brigade.

In July 2025, it was reformed into a separate reconnaissance strike battalion and assigned to the 16th Army Corps.

In December 2025, the battalion was reformed as a regular reconnaissance battalion.
