Chernihiv Company (Рота Чернігів) was one of the first volunteer battalions created under the command of Ministry of Internal Affairs. The unit was formed by volunteers from 14th Maidan Self-Defense unit, prominent first-line volunteers mainly from Desna Ultras. The unit was closely cooperating with Armed Forces during 2014 and separatists declared reward for every killed member o Chernihiv battalion. In 2015, the unit was accused of smuggling but the accusations were later dismissed. In 2016, Chernihiv battalion was reformed into a company and remains to serve in the Donbas.

The structure of this company is unknown, most likely several platoons.

Locally made Flecktarn uniform is very popular among volunteers across Ukraine. It’s cheap and widely available. The pattern works well in the various environment.
Airman Battle Uniform (ABU) is the predecessor of BDU. It is likely a locally made and not really common in Ukraine. Works decently in nature environment but is several years behind the current standard.
Unofficially known as M81, was default US camouflage pattern in 90’s and later in other states as well. Ukraine uses a locally made version with several adjustments that resembles the Croatian woodland pattern as well as standard version.

April 2014 – 21 July 2014
A military convoy was ambushed on May 2014 by separatist and Rubizhne was surrounded since then. Ukrainian forces entered the town on July 21 during the push alongside Donets river.
April 2014 – 22 July 2014
One of the most important industrial city of Donbas was captured by militants in April 2014. The city was surrounded in July from three sides and liberated on July 22.
22nd July – 24th July 2014
24th Mechanized Brigade with the support of Donbas battalion entered the city on the morning of 23rd of July. The Ukrainian flag was raised above the city in the evening of 24th of July.
23 July 2014
Militants set up checkpoints on the outskirts and defacto captured the town. The operation to liberate the town started and four days later, the town was successfully liberated.
Four soldiers of Chernihiv company died while serving on the checkpoint in Stanytsia Luhanska in 2014.
There are no reports of losses of equipment for this unit.
