About Unit

Chernihiv Company is a unit of Special Tasks Patrol Police and one of the first volunteer units created in 2014. The unit was formed as a volunteer battalion on April 16 in Chernihiv Oblast, primarily by the members of 14th Maidan Self-Defense unit (prominent first-line Maidan volunteers consisting of Desna Ultras). The battalion was tasked to protect public order in Chernihiv Oblast, but in June dispatched to Donbas. The unit closely cooperated with Ukrainian Armed Forces, and its success let Russia declare a reward for every killed member of Chernihiv Battalion.

On June 18, 2015, the then head of Luhansk Oblast accused the members of Chernihiv and Tornado Battalions of criminal activity and demanded to disarm these units. Tornado was disbanded on the same day, Chernihiv not. In late 2015, the battalion was reformed to a company

In April 2024, the company joined Chernihiv Rifle Battalion and ceased to exist as a separate entity.
