About Unit

Caucasian Legion is a foreign unit as part of the 9th Unmanned Systems Brigade as part of the Unmanned Systems Forces.

The unit was formed in June 2022, consisting of volunteers predominantly of Georgian, Azerbaijani, Armenian, and Russian origin. The unit consists of multiple independent teams, including engineers and a heavy artillery unit.

In September 2023, the unit joined the ranks of the 56th Motorized Brigade. Some time after that, the unit joined the 80th Air Assault Brigade in 2024. The unit then began to shift heavily towards the use of unmanned systems such as drones and ground robotics vehicles in combat.

In February 2025, it also became known that the unit had joined the 18th Marine Battalion and had been performing combat operations in Donetsk Oblast.

In late June 2025, it was revealed that the Caucasian Legion had taken steps to join the 9th Unmanned Systems Brigade. On July 12, 2025, the commander of the brigade, Lt. Col. Bohdan Harnaha, congratulated the Caucasian Legion for officially joining its ranks.
