About Unit

1st Marine Battalion is a separate unit of Marine Corps and part of 36th Marine Brigade. In 2014, as the result of annexation of Crimea by Russia, only 137 soldiers decided to return to Ukraine. In 2022, a few soldiers of the battalion were able to sneak out of the besieged Mariupol.
