The 251st Territorial Defense Battalion was created in 2022 as part of the 241st Territorial Defense Brigade.
The unit carried out tasks to defend the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, including participation in the defense of the Kyiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy regions.
In 2025, the battalion joined the 119th Territorial Defense Brigade.
