156th Territorial Defense Battalion was a unit of the Ukrainian Territorial Defense Forces, based in Cherkasy, formed and assigned into the 118th Territorial Defense Brigade.
The battalion received its first combat experience in April 2022 in the town of Popasna in the Luhansk region.
In 2023, the unit participated in the defense of Bakhmut.
Since August 2024, the battalion has been performing combat missions in the Kursk region.
In 2025, the battalion became defunct and was reformed as the 1st Linear Battalion of the 118th Territorial Defense Brigade.
