475th Assault Regiment is a unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
It was initially formed in 2022 as a reconnaissance platoon under the 92nd Mechanized Brigade, conducting ground reconnaissance missions. By the end of the year, the unit had begun to incorporate drones into its reconnaissance operations, gradually shifting from ground reconnaissance to aerial surveillance and reconnaissance.
As the effectiveness and innovation of unmanned systems and heavy bombers became clearer, the unit expanded and included a dedicated platoon of attack drones.
In 2024, it was expanded into a Strike Company and specialized exclusively in Unmanned Systems. In January 2025, due to the success of the unit, it was expanded into a separate assault battalion, being designated the 475th Assault Battalion, and remained under the command of the 92nd Assault Brigade.
In August 2025, the unit was expanded to the size of a regiment. It was confirmed on December 9, 2025, according to Ukrainska Pravada, that the regiment was not subordinated to the newly formed Assault Troops of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, but directly under the jurisdiction of the Command of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
In December 2025, two battalions under the umbrella of the International Legion under the Ukrainian Ground Forces, the 1st Infantry Battalion and 3rd Special Purpose Battalion, were disbanded and consolidated into a single infantry battalion within the regiment.
The unit participated in combat missions in the Kupyansk direction in late 2025 under the coordination of the Joint Forces Task Force and the 2nd Khartia Corps, helping to clear out Russian occupiers in the city.
Insignia
The insignia depicts a chevron with a light green border, with a black streak nestled around it. At its core, it is a camouflage pattern in a variety of black, brown, green, and sandy shades. The chevron also displays the inscription of the unit’s short name, alongside its nickname in light green text, and yellow for the period between the numbers.
