27th Artillery Brigade is a unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, formed in 2008 as the 27th Rocket Artillery Regiment later expanded into a brigade.
The brigade was formed in 2008 in Sumy on the basis of the disbanded Sumy Institute of Missile and Artillery Troops. Initially established as the 27th Rocket Artillery Regiment, it received its battle flag on December 5, 2008. In early 2015, the unit was reorganized and expanded into the 27th Rocket Artillery Brigade.
The brigade took part in the war in Donbas from July 2014, conducting fire missions in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions. Over the years, the unit has transitioned from Soviet-era BM-27 Uragan systems to more modern equipment, becoming one of the first Ukrainian formations to receive HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems during the full-scale Russian invasion.
During the 2023 Ukrainian counteroffensive, the brigade played an important role on the Zaporizhzhia front. In 2024, it also took part in the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region.
On April 13, 2025, the brigade suffered the loss of its commander, Colonel Yurii Yula, who was killed in a Russian Iskander missile strike on Sumy.
In 2025, the brigade was reformed into a Artillery Brigade.
