253rd Assault Regiment

253rd Assault Battalion, also known as Battalion Arey of Ukrainian Volunteer Army, is a separate battalion under the command of 129th Territorial Defense Brigade. The unit was formed as the Separate Tactical Group Arey by veterans from Voznesensk, Mykolaiv Oblast in February 2022. The tactical group was later expanded to a battalion and assigned under the command of Territorial Defense Forces.

On February 12, 2024, the battalion was reformed into a separate assault battalion.

As of 2025, the battalion is part of the Ground Forces.
