About Unit

125th Territorial Defense Brigade is a unit of the Ukrainian Territorial Defense Forces. The brigade was formed in late March 2022, consisting of volunteers from the city of Lviv and neighboring areas. In February 2024, the brigade was transferred to the Ukrainian Ground Forces, alongside the 127th and 128th Territorial Defense Brigades.

In July 2025, the unit was reformed as heavy mechanized brigade.

Major

Volodymyr Fokin

Known by the call sign “Foka”, he started his combat path as a machine gunner in the Azov Regiment in 2015. Later, he was appointed as a squad commander, participating in Shyrokyne, Granitne, Kurakhove, Krasnohorivka, and the Svitlodar arc. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, he joined Azov SSO Kyiv, progressing through all service levels from soldier to battalion commander. He helped to defend the city of Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast in the first months of the invasion. He would later participate in the battles of Bakhmut and Avdiivka. In October, 2025, he was appointed commander of the 125th Heavy Mechanized Brigade.
