About Unit

68th Airmobile Brigade is a unit of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces.

The unit was established in March 2022 as the 68th Jaeger Brigade and composed of thousands of volunteers who were among the first to enlist following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

By March 23, 2022, the brigade’s soldiers were already engaging the enemy near the approaches to Vuhledar.

In July 2025, alongside the 55th Artillery Brigade, the unit was transferred to the 9th Army Corps. It had previously not been assigned to any combined arms units, but rather directly subordinated to Operational Command West.

In February 2026, the unit was transferred to the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces to be reformed as an Airmobile unit, becoming the 68th Airmobile Brigade. It joined the ranks of the 8th Air Assault Corps.

Following its reformation, the brigade commander, Lieutenant Colonel Serhiy Tretyak, was replaced by Semen Sykolov, who previously served as deputy commander of the 25th Airborne Brigade.

As part of the reformation, the unit also received new training to integrate it better into the force, including parachute training, as well as rapid deployment with helicopters and other air vehicles.

Insignia

The insignia depicts a traditional chevron with a maroon field and silver border. The maroon represents the Air Assault Forces, while the silver symbolizes purity, wisdom, and nobility. At its center is a stylized golden wolverine, symbolizing the Prykarpattia region where the formation was established and its heritage as a former jaeger formation. In its claw is a winged silver hatchet, symbolizing lightning-fast retribution against the enemy.
