122nd Airmobile Battalion was a unit of the Air Assault Forces, formed in 2014 on the basis of the 3rd Airmobile Battalion of the 80th Air Assault Brigade. It took part in the defense of Donetsk Airport, holding its positions until the very last days of the battle. Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, the battalion has defended Izyum, Sievierodonetsk, and Rubizhne, and later took part in the liberation of Lyman.
In August 2025, the 3rd Airmobile Battalion of the 81st Airmobile Brigade was formed on its basis, and the 122nd Battalion ceased to exist as a separate entity.
