Special Purpose Unit Ares was an intelligence unit within the structure of the National Guard of Ukraine. In 2022, the unit was reformed as 2nd Separate Special Purpose Detachment (Omega-Kharkiv) and Ares ceased to exist.

Special Purpose Center Omega is a special forces unit of Ukraine’s National Guard established after Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. Prior to February 2022, Omega units were subordinated to territorial defense commands. Following the invasion, their command structure was centralized with the creation of the Special Purpose Center Omega.
