Veteran Brigades Join 11th Army Corps

The 11th Army Corps, the oldest active formation in the Ukrainian Army, has recently undergone a significant reorganization. As part of its reformation, the corps has adopted a new insignia and assumed command of several experienced brigades. These include the 24th Mechanized Brigade, 30th Mechanized Brigade, and 56th Motorized Brigade—all veteran units. Currently, these brigades are deployed near Chasiv Yar, a frontline sector now under the responsibility of the 11th Army Corps, as reported by MilitaryLand on July 30.
The corps also temporarily commands the 54th Mechanized Brigade and the 81st Airmobile Brigade. However, these units are not structurally subordinated to the corps and are attached only on a temporary basis.
The Oldest Corps
The 11th Army Corps is the oldest corps-level formation in the Ukrainian Army. Established in 2016 as a Reserve Corps, its original role was to oversee and maintain the Army’s reserve forces. In 2024, the unit was restructured into a regular military formation and officially designated as the 11th Army Corps.
