Command Changes Across Several Brigades

There has been a change of command in several Ground Forces brigades, with new commanders appointed to the 30th Mechanized Brigade, 58th Motorized Brigade, and 67th Mechanized Brigade.

30th Mechanized Brigade

Colonel Vladimir Silenko, who had led the brigade since 2022, has been replaced by Colonel Dmytro Dobush. The change was officially announced on the brigade’s social media page, though no specific reason was given. Colonel Silenko was not mentioned among those rumored to be appointed to a corps formation.

Col. Silenko previously served as the deputy commander of the 92nd Mechanized Brigade (now the Assault Brigade), chief of staff for the 93rd Mechanized Brigade and the 71st Jaeger Brigade, and, since June 2022, as the commander of the 30th Mechanized Brigade.

There is no public information available about the new commander, Colonel Dobush. During the brigade’s handover ceremony, he was seen wearing the insignia of the 39th Coastal Defense Brigade, suggesting that he likely served there prior to his current appointment.

58th Motorized Brigade

A leadership change has also been reported in the 58th Motorized Brigade, where Colonel Ruslan Shevchuk has been replaced by Colonel Ivan Shnyr. Shevchuk, who had led the brigade since 2023, was named among the 25 most influential Ukrainian military figures in 2022. The brigade is now under the command of Col. Ivan Shnyr, who previously served as the deputy commander of the 199th Training Center of the Air Assault Forces.

The change is likely linked to the ongoing transformation of the Ukrainian Army into a corps system.

67th Mechanized Brigade

The latest change of command comes from the 67th Mechanized Brigade. Lieutenant Colonel Oleksandr Poliaiev, who assumed command after the dismissal of the Ukrainian Volunteer Corps (Right Sector) core of the brigade, has been relieved of his post. The command has now been taken over by Lieutenant Colonel Oleksandr Shaptala. The reason for this change remains unknown.
