The Territorial Defense Corps revealed

MilitaryLand continues to closely monitor the ongoing reorganization of the Ukrainian defense forces into a corps-based system. This reform is intended to enhance Ukraine’s tactical and organizational effectiveness by replacing the ad hoc Tactical Groups—previously formed with variable structures—with permanent units that have clearly defined compositions and command hierarchies.
It has been confirmed that the 21st Army Corps, which MilitaryLand first reported on May 18 and provided additional details about on May 20, is part of the Territorial Defense Forces, marking the first corps-level formation within this branch. Previously, there were rumors that at least one corps would be established in the Territorial Defense Forces. This information was verified through the corps’ official Facebook page, which published a photo bearing a watermark reading “21 армійський корпус Сил ТрО ЗСУ” (translated as “21st Army Corps of the Territorial Defense Forces”).
We initially believed this might be the 12th Army Corps, which commands several Territorial Defense brigades, along with National Guard units and the Presidential Brigade. However, it appears that while the 12th Army Corps does oversee these subordinate units, it remains under the command of the Ground Forces. In contrast, the 21st Army Corps is a dedicated corps-level formation belonging directly to the Territorial Defense Forces.
It remains to be seen which specific units will be subordinated to this corps.
