71st Jaeger Brigade Redesignated as Airmobile Formation

The 71st Jaeger Brigade, 8th Air Assault Corps, Air Assault Forces of Ukraine, has completed its transformation into the 71st Airmobile Brigade, according to an official statement released by the unit’s command through social media channels.

“Effective this year, we have received enhanced equipment and increased firepower. Our operational methods, core principles, and mission responsibilities remain constant,” the brigade stated. “We are now the 71st Separate Airmobile Brigade.”

The 71st Jaeger Brigade stood up in 2022 in Pavlohrad following the Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Initially organized under Ground Forces command, the brigade was transferred to Air Assault Forces authority in October 2022, where it served as the sole jaeger-type formation within that branch.

The brigade currently maintains four jaeger battalions, all of which are undergoing conversion to airmobile in accordance with standard Ukrainian airmobile brigade organizational structures.

The reorganization marks the end of jaeger-type units within Ukraine’s Air Assault Forces structure.
