Tsunami Regiment is an assault regiment within the Lyut Assault Brigade as part of the National Police.
Initially formed as the Tsunami Police Battalion in February 2022, it took part in the defense of Mykolaiv and Kherson Oblasts following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. On February 6, 2023, the battalion was expanded and reformed into an assault regiment and assigned under the command of the Lyut Brigade.
In 2023 it became known that the Tavr Assault Battalion was assigned under the command of the regiment.
On March 15, 2024, the commander of the regiment, Oleksandr Hostischev, was killed during a rocket attack on Odessa. At some point after this, Maxim Tsurkan took over as the acting commander of the regiment, where he remains today.
The unit has carried out operations in Bakhmut and Vovchansk, and more recently was deployed to the vicinity of Toretsk to help stabilize the situation alongside several other units of the brigade.

He is the commander of the Tsunami Regiment of the Lyut Assault Brigade. There is not much known about him except that he became a known commander following the death of Oleksandr Hostischev in March 2024 after being killed in a rocket attack on Odessa. He has been instrumental in leading the unit throughout key engagements such as the Battle of Vovchansk, and most recently – the Battle of Toretsk, where the regiment has fought fiercely against Russian forces.
