Since its formation, the personnel of the 5th Special Purpose Detachment “Omega” have been continuously involved in combat operations across Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions. Key areas of engagement have included Mariupol, Shchastia, Lobacheve, Lopaskyne, Staryi Aidar, Velyka Novosilka, Vuhledar, Pavlivka, Avdiivka, Terny, Toretsk, Pokrovsk, and Borova.
When the full-scale invasion began, the detachment was already engaged in combat and successfully took part in defensive actions along the northern and eastern fronts.
From March to December 2022, the unit was tasked with defending the settlements of Velyka Novosilka, Vuhledar, and Pavlivka.
Between April and November 2023, the special forces operators of the 5th “Omega” Detachment participated in defensive operations in the Avdiivka sector, where—together with other elements of the Defense Forces—they successfully repelled a major enemy offensive.
Since February 2024, the detachment has been involved in special operations in the area of Terny in cooperation with the Azov Brigade, later redeploying to assist in the defense of Pokrovsk.
The 5th “Omega” Special Forces Detachment has conducted numerous successful special operations, including the capture of Russian military personnel and the destruction of enemy equipment and troops.
