About Unit

1st Special Purpose Detachment is a linear unit of the Omega Special Purpose Center.

It has carried out hundreds of successful counter-terror and combat operations, predominantly in eastern Ukraine. Since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the unit has been actively engaged in combat operations across many parts of the frontline, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia Oblasts.

The detachment includes several assault groups, K9 handlers, and divers, being highly trained specialists capable of executing missions on both land and water. The unit is based in Kyiv.
