About Unit

5th Mobile Border Detachment “Stalevy Kordon” was established as a new-type unit within the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Its structure, command system, and training were designed to address the challenges facing Ukraine during wartime.

The foundation of the unit was formed by personnel from various border guard units that carried out missions in the combat zone in eastern Ukraine and resisted Russian aggression. Its ranks include servicemen who were among the first to confront the enemy at the border, defenders of Azovstal, as well as those who served on the front lines in the Lyman and Bakhmut directions and protected the state border with the aggressor country.

To carry out its missions, the detachment operates anti-tank and artillery teams, aerial reconnaissance groups, and MANPADS crews. Its primary role is to strengthen Ukraine’s defense and reinforce the protection of the state border, as border guards are the first line of defense and an integral part of the country’s Defense Forces.
