Reconnaissance Battalion

Reconnaissance Battalion is a linear battalion of the 3rd Assault Brigade.

The battalion was created on the basis of the Reconnaissance Platoon “Hatred”, formerly part of the 1st Assault Battalion, a linear battalion of the 3rd Assault Brigade. This came about following the reformation of the brigade’s original battalion into a separate formation, becoming the 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion.

In order to prop up a new reconnaissance unit, the platoon was expanded into the size of a battalion; however, it was likely expanded to the strength of a company long before this development.

Insignia

The insignia retains the traditions of the brigade’s pointed chevron appearance. It depicts subdued tones of black and grey, with the center of the insignia having a diagonal line, representing Western imagery designating a reconnaissance unit. Above it is a stylized Fenrir animal, commonly associated with Scandinavian and Norse mythology.
