9th Reconnaissance Battalion is a unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
It was formed on March 1, 2022, as the 9th Rifle Battalion.
By May 2022, the battalion had completed basic training and combat coordination. Soon after, it took part in fighting near Toshkivka, Lysychansk, Severodonetsk, and Vovchoyarivka. In June 2022, the battalion participated in the counteroffensive in the Kherson region.
In March 2023, the battalion was engaged in heavy urban combat in Bakhmut, Donetsk region. In September 2023, it was assigned to the 57th Motorized brigade. From mid-September, it fought around Makiivka and Nevske in Luhansk region.
At the end of 2023 and into early 2024, the battalion operated in the Kharkiv region near Synkivka and Lyman Pershyi. In May 2024, was redeployed to the Vovchansk area.
In August 2025, a reconnaissance battalion was formed on its basis.
