The battalion was formed in Autumn 2023 on the basis of 150th Reconnaissance Company and remnants of the previously disbanded 518th Separate Special Purpose Battalion. In January 2024 deputy commander of the battalion Major Andriy “Tuman” Malakhov was charged by the Kharkiv City Court for violating operational security. In February 2026 the unit was renamed losing the “Strike” status” and is now known as 150th Reconnaissance Battalion.
