Training Unit
157th Training Center is a unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
The battalion was formed somewhere around or before May 2023 as the 4th Training Battalion of the International Legion. It was created due to the number of volunteers willing to join the Legion but who had limited or no military experience.
Individuals who sought to join the International Legion and had limited or no experience arrived at the battalion, when they completed basic training, they were sent to one of the former line battalions, namely the 1st Infantry Battalion, 2nd Infantry Battalion, or the 3rd Special Purpose Battalion of the International Legion.
Recruits receive their own unique insignia as part of the training program. They receive full uniform and equipment and begin their training, where they train on marksmanship skills, physical fitness, combat exercises, Ukrainian language, navigation, mapping, and more. The training is given in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
In November 2025, the unit was reformed as the 157th International Training Center.
Following the disbandment of the International Legion under the Ukrainian Ground Forces, the unit continues to be responsible for the training of foreign volunteers, sending them to their desired unit after training.
Insignia
The insignia features a typical chevron with a yellow border and a green canvas. The central imagery depicts a stylized spartan helmet shaped in a trident, a homage to the national symbol of Ukraine – the Tyrzub.
