About Unit

401st Infantry Battalion was a unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.

It was formed and assigned to the 143rd Mechanized Brigade in 2023 as a Reserve Rifle Battalion, before being reformed as the 401st Infantry Battalion.

In 2024, the battalion became defunct and was reformed as the 2nd Rifle Battalion of the 110th Mechanized Brigade, due to it taking heavy casualties and needing sufficient replenishments.

Insignia

The insignia features a chevron with a yellow border. At its center is a red field, while the upper third of the chevron is separated and colored blue. Within the blue section are two stars flanking a Cossack cross at the center. On the red field below sits a stylized cross and crescent, and two stars, reflecting the brigade and the battalion’s own unique symbology.
