About Unit

354th Mechanized Regiment is a training unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, and part of 169th Training Center.

The Konovalets Military School was founded in 2016, during the early stages of Russia’s war against Ukraine. It was created by combat veterans, instructors, and volunteers many of whom had served with the Azov Regiment and later the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade.

Named after Yevhen Konovalets, a prominent Ukrainian military leader and founder of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), the school was created to train a new generation of junior commanders and instructors — soldiers prepared to lead from the front.

From the start, the training combined NATO-style tactics with real-world combat experience. While the unit maintained a low public profile in its early years, its visibility has grown significantly.

As of 2025, the school is evolving into a more structured training and combat unit, continuing its mission to build capable and professional military leaders. Its graduates now serve across the Armed Forces, National Guard, and military intelligence units, including some of the country’s most elite formations.

On May 6, 2025, the regiment received its battle flag.
