About Unit

22nd Battalion of Unmanned Systems is a unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.

It was formed on March 17, 2022 as the 22nd Special Purpose Battalion of the Presidential Brigade. Most of its servicemen are experienced professional soldiers who took part in the defense of Ukraine as early as the ATO stage.

From the moment of its creation, the unit defended the northern part of Kyiv region. Later, the unit was redeployed to the eastern part of the country, where it held the defense of Bakhmut, Ivanivske, and Chasiv Yar, and pushed the enemy out of Dvorichna, Zapadne, Synkivka, Hryhorivka and In 2024 the battalion took part in the Kursk operation.

In 2025 the battalion was reformed into unmanned systems battalion. In February 2026 Maj. Oleh Stepanovych Bobas replaced Maj. Vitaly Drozd as new commander of the unit, with the former being appointed to a new position.
