Intelligence Forces
14th Reconnaissance Battalion is a unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
The battalion was originally formed following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in March 2022, in Rivne Oblast. It was designated as the 14th Rifle Battalion.
In January 2023, the battalion was rapidly deployed to Bakhmut, Donetsk Oblast, to desperately hold the line against the advancing Russian forces, most of which were Wagner mercenaries.
In August 2025, the battalion was reformed as the 14th Reconnaissance Battalion in the wake of the reforms in the Ukrainian Defense Forces to the Corps-Brigade structure. It was assigned to the 19th Army Corps of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
Insignia
The insignia features a chevron with a yellow border and a subdued military green canvas. The peak of the chevron depicts the insignia of the 19th Army Corps, being partly red, a cross, and two stars on either side in yellow. The lower half of the chevron is a diagonal line in yellow, which is Western iconography to designate a reconnaissance unit.
